چکیده

syndrome. The cerebellum within those cephaloceles is usually dysplastic and gliotic. Plexiform NF, hallmark of NF-I are found in 30-40% of all patients with NF-I. They usually arise along the axis of a major nerve, are unencapsulated and infiltrate producing fusiform appearance. They commonly occur along orbital division of V nerve, but other areas are not exempt often associated with sphenoidal dysplasias, they are hypervascular and enhance intensely on post contrast MR. Our patient had an occipital encephalocele with dysplastic cerebellum. However, the presence of additional parietal bony defects a finding well described in NF-I and the associated plexiform neurofibroma of the adjacent scalp suggests that the bony defect in our case could be due to the mesodermal dysplasia of NF-I. The peculiarity of this case of NF-I lies not in the presence of plexiform NF, bony dysplasia or cephalocele, findings well documented in literature, but in their unusual occipital location a site hitherto reported till now only in one case so far to the best of our knowledge.

Carotid artery injury from an airgun pellet: a case report and review of the literature

Historically airguns were powerful weapons. Modern models, though less lethal, are still capable of inflicting serious or life threatening injuries. Current United Kingdom legislation fails to take into the account the capacity for airguns to maim and kill. We believe that airguns should be governed by the same law that applies to firearms. We present a case of a potentially fatal airgun injury...

Ocular injuries caused by airgun pellets: an analysis of 105 cases.

One hundred and five cases of airgun pellet injuries of the eye have been analysed. The average age was 14 and the male to female ratio 7.5:1. Forty-five patients had final visual acuities of 6/18 or less in the injured eye and 19 of these had the eye removed. The two main causes for poor vision were retinal damage and cataract. One patient became completely blind after sympathetic ophthalmitis...

Orbital Epithelial Implantation Cyst Presenting 40 Years after Orbital Trauma

Here we present an unusual case of an epithelial implantation cyst within the orbit which presented 40 years after initial injury from an airgun pellet. A retrospective review of the case will be performed. This case is to highlight the importance of taking a thorough history when assessing adnexal lesions of undetermined origin.

A rare case of deep penetration of skull base by an airgun pellet

Seemingly harmless low velocity weapons like air guns sometimes may cause deep penetration of tissues leading to serious disability or even death especially in children. Deep penetration is rare in adults. We present a case of penetration of anterior skull base by air gun pellet in an adult in whom the projectile could not be retrieved initially but became accessible for removal due to spontane...
